Overview

S4 takes everything learned so far and applies it to a new scale. Taller ridges, sharper lines, and the introduction of soft side entry — approaching a ridge from its loose, sloping face rather than its firm spine — expand the range of terrain you can read and drive.

Turning ridges appear for the first time. Speed increases where conditions allow. The session consolidates the full intermediate skill set and prepares members for the step into advanced driving that begins at S5.

By the end of S4 you will have driven terrain that most recreational desert drivers in the UAE never attempt. And you will have done it with control.

What you'll cover

• Taller and sharper ridge work — applying established technique at a new scale
• Soft side approach — reading the slope, managing the angle, and committing to the entry from the loose face
• Introduction to turning ridges — ridges that require directional change mid-line, demanding anticipation and precision
• Controlled speed increase — understanding when more speed serves the terrain and when it does not
• Consolidation of the full intermediate skill set — wheel placement, momentum, ridge joining and switching, drop management
• Preparation for the transition to advanced driving

Progression — Marshal sign-off required. Member must demonstrate soft side entry, turning ridge management, and controlled speed across tall ridge terrain.
